Russia Strikes Ukraine's Power Grid: Odessa, Nikolaev Hit
In the early morning of April 10, Russian forces launched attacks against energy and transportation infrastructure in Ukraine's Odessa region, resulting in injuries to two people.
According to Ukrainskaia Pravda, a separate energy facility in the Nikolaev region was also targeted.
"The attack targeted Odesa's energy infrastructure," said Mayor Ghenadii Trukanov. "We are currently assessing the extent of the damage to the energy facility. A private residence and several vehicles were also damaged in the attack."
Local authorities reported that the Russian Federation deployed attack drones, two of which were intercepted and destroyed by Ukrainian air defences.
Vitali Kim, head of the Nikolaev region, stated that the attack on the energy sector necessitated temporary power outages. However, he assured that electricity had since been restored to the citizens.
The attack comes amidst reports that Russia launched a broader assault on Ukraine on the night of April 10. This offensive reportedly involved 17 Shahed-131/136 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), two Iskander-K cruise missiles, and one Iskander-M ballistic missile. Ukrainian forces successfully countered the drone attack, destroying 14 of the UAVs.
