Fixed-Premium Health Plans Popular in Moldova
A record number of Moldovans have purchased health insurance in the first three months of 2023, according to Ion Dodon, director of the National Health Insurance Company.
This significant increase highlights a growing awareness among citizens of the importance of health coverage.
Dodon attributes this surge in enrollment, in part, to early-year discounts offered on health insurance policies. He points out that the number of employees, who contribute a percentage of their salary towards health insurance, has remained relatively stable year-over-year. However, the number of individuals opting for the fixed-premium option has seen a dramatic rise.
"We've witnessed a record number of insured individuals who have opted for the fixed-sum premium this year," Dodon stated. "Compared to the same period in 2022, where approximately 92,000 people purchased this premium, over 150,000 individuals have done so by March 31st, 2023. This represents a significant jump from the roughly 60,000 who enrolled in 2022."
It's important to note that the fixed-premium option was only available for purchase at discounted rates until April 1st. Currently, the cost of this plan stands at 12,636 lei. Previously, fixed-premium prices ranged from 1,014 lei to 4,056 lei.
