UPDATE The truck driver involved in the Măgdăcești accident, detained for 72 hours

UPDATE The driver of the truck that caused the accident in Măgdăcești, resulting in 16 injured people, was detained for 72 hours. The information was confirmed for Moldova 1TV by the press officer of IP Criuleni, Elena Băetrău.

A serious accident happened in the morning of April 11, in Măgdăcești, Criuleni district. According to the press officer of the General Police Inspectorate, Diana Fetco, a minibus on the Drăsliceni-Chisinau route collided violently with a truck. Six ambulances intervened on the scene, of which two specialized Mobile Intensive Therapy teams from SAMU Centru and Râșcani in Chisinau.

Following the impact, 16 people, including 2 minors, were transported to the hospital with various injuries. The law enforcement officers determined that a minibus, driven by a 63-year-old driver, was hit from the side by a truck, which performed a maneuver to make the lane without securing.

Being tested for alcohol, it was established that neither driver had consumed alcohol.

An investigation was initiated on this case to establish all the circumstances of the accident.
