The FAO regional conference, which was to be hosted by the Republic of Moldova, is being transferred to Rome

The regional conference of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) that was to take place from May 14 to 17 in Chisinau is being transferred to Rome, Italy. This was announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) from Chisinau, reiterating the position of the Moldovan authorities not to admit the presence of Russian officials on its territory.

"With reference to the 34th edition of the FAO Conference for Europe, we reiterate that the authorities of the Republic of Moldova have come up with the principled position of not admitting on its territory the representatives of the FAO member state that conducts a war of aggression against another member state FAO," reads the release.

According to the source, all the concerned actors were informed about the possible ways of participating in the hybrid format of the delegations at the event.

"Because the Republic of Moldova honors its international commitments, the proposal to transfer the event to Rome came from Chisinau to allow the meeting to take place in accordance with the FAO statute and its rules of procedure," said the Ministry. The event organized in Rome will take place under the Presidency of the Republic of Moldova.

Previously, the authorities in Chisinau announced that they would not allow the participation of Russian officials in the regional Conference of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) that will take place from May 14 to 17, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in a statement.
