The Republic of Moldova warns citizens against travel to Israel, Lebanon, Iran

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) of the Republic of Moldova has issued a travel warning for the countries of the Middle East, in connection with the insecurity situation generated by the war in Israel. Thus, Moldovan citizens who are or plan to travel to the region, especially countries such as Lebanon, Syria, Iran and Jordan, are asked to be cautious.

The MAE recommends constant information, from local sources, about the security situation and careful compliance with the instructions of law enforcement.

Also, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova who are in the territory and need to be consulted on consular issues, are urged to contact the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in the Republic of Turkey.

Travel warning for Israel and other Middle East countries have been issued by the United States, Britain, Russia and other countries, which are restricting diplomatic movements in and advising their citizens not to travel to the region at this time. These restrictions were issued in connection with a possible Iranian attack on Israel in response to the attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria. Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken asked the foreign ministers of China, Turkey and Saudi Arabia to pressure Iran not to escalate the situation.

According to Euronews, a number of American media outlets wrote that a "large-scale air attack using missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles" is planned. Thus, CBS News, citing US officials, notes that the attack could be massive, using more than 100 drones and dozens of missiles. It is noted that it may be difficult for Israel to defend against an attack of this magnitude, which is a response to the attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria.

Israel is preparing to repel an Iranian attack in the next 24-48 hours. This is stated in the material published on Thursday by The Wall Street Journal. According to a source close to the Iranian leadership, quoted by the publication, the attack will be carried out in the south or north of the country.

"US officials warn that with Iran's response, it's not a matter of if, but when," says the BBC's Middle East correspondent Hugo Bachega.

The British Foreign Office also announced "the possibility of an attack on Israel by Iran". The UK has been warning its citizens about the risks of traveling to Israel since last October, when Israel was attacked by Hamas militants.

France has issued similar warnings, BBC reports.
