Alexandru Flenchea - the new adviser to the prime minister and co-chairman of the Unified Control Commission
The delegation of the Republic of Moldova in the Unified Control Commission (CUC) will have a new leader, Alexandru Flenchea. He will be empowered to coordinate the aspects of peacekeeping in the process of settling the Transnistrian conflict. In addition, Alexandru Flenchea will also hold the position of adviser to the prime minister in the field of the country's reintegration policies, reads a Government release.
Alexandru Flenchea has vast experience in the field of politics and peaceful regulation. He held the position of Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration and previously held various positions within the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).
The delegation of the Republic of Moldova in the CUC represents the interests of the state and provides multilateral assistance to the process of peaceful and political settlement of the conflict in the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova.
Between 1999 and 2022, the delegation of the Republic of Moldova to the CUC was led by General Ion Solonenco, who died last summer.
