The Delegation of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova participates in the spring session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). The meeting takes place between April 15-19, in Strasbourg. Several topics will be included on the agenda, including Kosovo's application for membership in the Council of Europe, the death of Alexei Navalny and the systematic persecution of protesters in the Russian Federation and Belarus.
The agenda also includes discussions on the support given to Ukraine in the context of the war, including through the use of seized assets of the Russian Federation, as well as on the role of the Council of Europe in preventing a humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip.
The participants of the session will also address the draft Framework Convention on artificial intelligence, human rights, democracy and the rule of law, as well as topics related to the protection of children against violence, collaboration between the opposition and the majority in a democracy, good practices in referendums.
According to the Legislative, the parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Moldova will be led by the vice-president of the Foreign Policy and European Integration Commission, Ion Groza. The delegation also includes deputies Natalia Davidovici and Andrian Cheptonar. The session will also be attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister Mihail Popșoi, who will give a speech.
The Republic of Moldova has been a member of the Council of Europe since 1995.
