A new case of measles was registered in the Republic of Moldova

A new case of measles was registered in the Republic of Moldova. According to the National Public Health Agency (ANSP), it is about a three-year-old child, staying with his family in a temporary placement center for refugees in Popeasca village, Ștefan Vodă district.

According to the quoted source, the child is not vaccinated. Other suspected measles cases among contacts are under investigation.

We remind that, since the beginning of the current year, 37 cases of measles have been reported in the Republic of Moldova. Out of the total number, the most cases were confirmed in the municipality of Chisinau – 33, of which 18 were registered in the outbreak in a temporary placement center for refugees in Chisinau. One case of measles was recorded in Orhei district, one in Ialoveni and one in Anenii Noi.

In this context, ANSP warns that measles is a highly contagious viral infection that can lead to serious complications and urges parents to vaccinate their children, taking into account the epidemiological situation at national and regional level.
