Norway Announces Upcoming Diplomatic Mission in Moldova

In a recent interview with Moldova 1, Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide declared Norway's imminent establishment of a diplomatic mission in the Republic of Moldova.

This move signifies strong Norwegian support for Moldova, particularly its ongoing reforms spearheaded by the Moldovan government and its aspirations for European integration.

"We acknowledge the Republic of Moldova's efforts to modernise its economy and forge closer ties with Europe," stated Foreign Minister Eide. "To this end, we have resolved to solidify our already positive relations through the establishment of a permanent mission in Chisinau, ensuring a consistent presence."

The announcement comes after the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported in 2023 that several nations, including the Netherlands, Belgium, Greece, and Spain, had recently opened or planned to open embassies in the Republic of Moldova. In January of this year, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark was inaugurated in Chisinau.
