Vaccines Save Lives: Global Campaign Launched

World Immunization Week has begun, with the campaign aiming to raise public awareness about the crucial role of vaccination in preventing diseases and safeguarding lives.

By 2030, projections indicate that people worldwide will have access to vaccines at all stages of life, promoting health and well-being.

During a municipal operational meeting today, Deputy Director of the Chisinau Health Department, Vladimir Bolocan, emphasised the importance of public awareness regarding the positive effects of vaccination and its proven ability to save lives. He clarified that health officials will be issuing clear messages throughout the week to highlight the significance of vaccination.

"I encourage everyone to get vaccinated and urge all influencers to join our efforts in promoting vaccination," stated Vladimir Bolocan. "This is particularly important as Immunization Awareness Week approaches. During this week, we will be providing comprehensive and clear information about vaccination, the vaccines themselves, and everything related to them."

The World Health Organization's European Region organises European Immunization Week (EIW) to raise awareness about the importance of vaccines in disease prevention and life protection. This year's edition holds particular significance as it coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Expanded Immunization Program. It is important to note that Moldova offers free state-provided vaccinations, ensuring equitable access to these vital services. The National Immunization Program for 2023-2027 aims to maintain vaccination coverage above 95% for the 13 infections included in the immunisation schedule, with additional immunizations provided in response to specific epidemic threats.
