Ursula von der Leyen: The EU is to impose new sanctions on Russia and the states that support the war in Ukraine
The European Union will adopt new sanctions against Russia and also on those states that support Russian aggression in Ukraine. It was announced by the President of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, during a press briefing in Brussels.
The European Union will stand in solidarity with the Ukrainian people and impose tough sanctions on the Kremlin regime, said the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. According to her, Brussels will extend these sanctions to those who support the Russian war through military means, such as Belarus or Iran. "The European Union will continue to do everything possible to support the brave people of Ukraine. We will continue to pressure the Kremlin as long as necessary with a tough sanctions regime. And we will come out with new sanctions against Belarus in response to its role in Russia's war against Ukraine," EC President Ursula von der Leyen said.
Radio Moldova recalls that from the beginning of the war in Ukraine until now, the European Union has implemented 9 packages of sanctions against the Russian aggressor. It was previously reported that the European Union will conduct a close dialogue with the G7 countries on the introduction of the tenth package of sanctions against Russia.
Earlier, the President of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, confirmed that he was participating in the war in Ukraine, but the Belarusian military is not killing anyone.
Radio Moldova recalls that Russia used Minsk as a launching pad for its February 24 invasion and continues to use Belarusian airspace for drone and missile strikes, Kyiv authorities claim.
Since the autumn of last year, Iran has also been involved in the war in Ukraine by producing and delivering kamikaze drones to the Russian Federation, something repeatedly denied by the Kremlin.
