Vladimir Cuc will be appointed ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Switzerland
Vladimir Cuc will be appointed ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the Switzerland and, at the same time, as a resident representative of our country at the UN Office in Geneva. The members of the Foreign Policy and European Integration Commission approved the advisory opinion for the accepted candidacy.
Vladimir Cuc has a degree in international relations and a master's degree in the same field. He started his career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2004, where he worked in several subdivisions and was responsible for various fields: cooperation with the OSCE, EU-Republic of Moldova political dialogue, Eastern Partnership. From 2021 to the present, he serves as secretary of state in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the Law on the diplomatic service, the proposals regarding the appointment to the position of ambassador are submitted to the Government by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, with the consultation of the Foreign Policy and European Integration Commission of the Parliament. We remind that the position of ambassador to Switzerland and resident representative of our country to the UN has been vacant since September 2023, when the decree on the recall of Tatiana Molcean from this position came into force.
Tatiana Molcean was recalled from the position of Resident Representative of the Republic of Moldova to the UN Office in Geneva, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Moldova to Switzerland and by extension to the Principality of Liechtenstein, in connection with moving to another job. On July 26, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Molcean was appointed to the position of Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).
