Moldova Eyes EU Entry by 2030: Ambassador
Moldova has the potential to join the European Union by 2030, according to Stanislav Kázecký, the Czech Ambassador to Chișinău.
However, the ambassador emphasised the need for Moldova to make progress in certain areas before achieving full membership.
"The Czech Republic's accession process took a decade, a lengthy and challenging endeavour," Kázecký remarked in an interview with Radio Moldova. "Similarly, Moldova, or more precisely, those involved in the accession process, will need to address several areas for improvement. While I am impressed by the progress made thus far, it is important to acknowledge that this is a process, and Moldova is not yet fully prepared for membership."
Kázecký expressed confidence in Moldova's ability to meet the requirements for EU membership by 2030. Currently, Moldovan representatives are participating in a series of informational sessions in Brussels on European Union law. These sessions are part of the ongoing screening procedure conducted jointly with the European Commission. The informational sessions serve as a preparatory exercise for the bilateral screening stage, where Moldova will present its progress in aligning its legal and institutional framework with the principles and standards of the European Union.
