Moldova Gets Advanced First-Aid Kits from NATO
The Moldovan National Army has significantly bolstered its medical capabilities following a delivery of advanced first-aid equipment from the North Atlantic Alliance.
The equipment, valued at nearly 700,000 euros, includes 4,000 individual first-aid kits, 12,000 tourniquets, and 60,000 collective medical kits.
These medical kits are designated for units across all garrisons in the country, with some already distributed to peacekeeping forces deployed in the Security Zone. The remaining supplies are allocated to soldiers undergoing training at designated centres.
"These vital supplies are not meant to be stockpiled," emphasised Moldovan Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatîi. "This donation marks the beginning of a broader cooperation effort. We are engaged in 20 programs with NATO that aim to strengthen national resilience across various sectors, including the military, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Intelligence and Security Service."
Minister Nosatîi further highlighted that NATO's support extends beyond military preparedness, playing a crucial role in ensuring the safety of Moldovan citizens.
"This consolidated assistance package allows us to collaborate on nearly 20 different areas," explained NATO representative Pierre Cazalet. "Our cooperation encompasses purely military subjects like logistics and training, as well as cross-cutting domains such as strategic communication and cybersecurity. This represents the largest single delivery to date, and NATO remains committed to providing further support over the next two years."
Colonel Doctor Sergiu Cârlan of the Moldovan National Army confirmed that while soldiers were previously equipped with first-aid kits, the newly donated supplies offer significantly enhanced capabilities.
"These new individual kits are designed for providing critical medical intervention within the first ten minutes of an emergency," explained Colonel Doctor Cârlan. "The kits also include tourniquets for haemorrhage control and paramedic supplies for extended medical support within the first half hour."
This initiative underscores NATO's ongoing commitment to supporting the Republic of Moldova in its efforts to modernise its national defence capabilities and ensure the well-being of its citizens.
