Moldova Gas Prices Down: Moldovagaz Requests Tariff Cut
Moldovagaz has formally requested a 9.3% reduction in the average gas tariff. The proposed new tariff would be 10,095 lei per thousand cubic metres.
According to Moldovagaz, the request for a tariff revision stems from two primary factors. The first is a decrease in natural gas purchase prices on the Title Transfer Facility (TTF) platform, a key European gas trading hub. The second factor is a significant decline in sales volumes of natural gas to consumers.
The proposed tariff reductions would apply at various points within the natural gas network. At the entry points of transmission networks, the tariff would be reduced by 13.6% to 7,716 lei per thousand cubic metres. Similarly, a 13.5% reduction is proposed at the exit points of transmission networks, bringing the new tariff down to 7,801 lei per thousand cubic metres.
Further reductions are proposed for distribution networks. At the exit points of high-pressure gas distribution networks, the tariff would decrease by 13.3% to 7,915 lei per thousand cubic metres. The tariff for medium-pressure networks would see an 11.5% reduction to 8,917 lei per thousand cubic metres. Finally, the tariff for low-pressure networks, which supply all household consumers and some non-household consumers, would be reduced by 8.9% to 12,200 lei per thousand cubic metres.
Moldovagaz emphasised that the draft tariff for 2024 was prepared in strict accordance with relevant legislation. The proposed tariff structure is designed to cover the cost of natural gas purchases, ensuring that Moldovagaz can fulfil its contractual payment obligations to its suppliers.
The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) has confirmed receipt of Moldovagaz's request. ANRE will now prepare a draft resolution for review and approval at its meeting scheduled for Thursday, May 2.
