Street in France will be named after Alexei Navalny, the most famous opponent of Russian President Vladimir Putin, found dead in prison

A street in Paris will be named after Alexei Navalny, Lʼavenue Alexeï Navalny. An art monument will also be placed at the intersection of two boulevards, in Navalnî's memory.

Navalny's supporters have repeatedly launched petitions proposing that streets in European cities be renamed in memory of Aleksei Navalny, particularly in The Hague, Berlin and Vilnius.

So far, none of these initiatives have been implemented, writes the "Meduza" publication.

The death of Alexei Navalny

Alexei Navalny, known as the main critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin, was declared dead on February 16, this year. He died in the IK-3 prison in Siberia, where he was held for political reasons. According to the certificate of death, drawn up by the Russian authorities, Navalny died of "natural causes". The politician was buried on March 1, at the "Borisov" cemetery in Moscow. Alexei Navalnyi's family and team, political leaders from around the world, including Chisinau, and ordinary people accuse Russian President Vladimir Putin of killing the dissident. Iulia Navalnaia, the late politician's widow, announced that she would continue her husband's fight and promised to hold Putin and his entourage accountable.
