Phone conversation between Maia Sandu and Volodymyr Zelenski // The President confirmed the presence at the first Peace Summit for Ukraine

President Maia Sandu has confirmed her presence at the first Peace Summit for Ukraine, which will take place in Switzerland, in less than a month, announced the leader of Kyiv, Volodymyr Zelensky. The official expressed hope that this event would open "the way for peace". In a phone call that he had, on May 9, with the leader from Chisinau, Maia Sandu, the Ukrainian president, mentioned that the main topic addressed was "our integration into the EU".

"I congratulated the President of the Republic of Moldova on Europe Day (...). Europe is our common home, and its security is based on a just peace in Ukraine. The inaugural peace summit in June can pave the way for such peace."

The first Peace Summit for Ukraine will take place on June 15-16 in Burgenstock, Switzerland. There they will discuss the Ukrainian formula for peace, which involves the restoration of nuclear, food and energy security, the release of all prisoners of war and civilian detainees, and the restoration of Ukraine's territorial integrity through the withdrawal of Russian troops.

Kiev refused to invite Russia to the summit in Switzerland, from which it hopes to send a strong message of rejection of the violation of international legality that Moscow is committing in Ukraine and with this message to influence the Kremlin. Switzerland also hosted the 2022 Ukraine Recovery Conference in Lugano, which set the principles for Ukraine's reconstruction and recovery.

The estimated cost of Ukraine's post-war recovery and reconstruction has risen to $486 billion over 10 years, the World Bank reported in February.
