Moldova Online Orders at Risk: War Threatens Parcels
Moldovan citizens face the risk of online parcels being destroyed as the majority transit war-torn Ukraine.
Parcels ordered from China and other countries typically travel through Ukraine, which is currently experiencing constant bombardment by Russian forces. However, representatives from delivery services have assured customers that they will be reimbursed for any lost or destroyed goods.
Ludmila Lavric, a spokesperson for one of Moldova's largest postal delivery companies, confirmed that these parcels are only briefly stored in Ukraine before undergoing processing and shipment to Moldova. Lavric further explained that the company compensates customers for the declared value of any parcels lost or destroyed during transit due to unforeseen circumstances.
A survey conducted among Moldovan citizens revealed a general trust in delivery services, with most reporting that their parcels typically arrive safely. Customers also highlighted the availability of customer service for any questions or concerns.
"I place online orders two to four times a month, and they have always arrived on schedule," one satisfied customer remarked. "I haven't encountered any problems. I can always contact customer service or the company directly if needed."
Another customer shared, "I frequently use applications to place orders. On one occasion, an order was not delivered. I cancelled it and received a full refund. Thankfully, all my other parcels have arrived safely and undamaged. I am very pleased with the service."
It is important to note that approximately 900 parcels valued at over 1.4 million Moldovan lei were destroyed last week in a Russian missile attack on a Nova Poshta office in Odessa, according to Forbes Ukraine magazine. The company representatives confirmed to our editorial team that none of the destroyed parcels were destined for Moldova. They reassured customers that all those affected by the missile attack have received a full refund.
