Moldova Thwarts Forged Doc Entry at Airport
A 42-year-old Armenian citizen was denied entry at the Moldovan border on May 12 after attempting to enter the country with a forged document, the Border Police reported.
The incident occurred at the Chișinău International Airport.
The man arrived at the Chișinău Airport from Yerevan earlier today. According to a report by the Border Police, he was selected for a more thorough inspection due to a risk assessment and arising suspicions.
During the inspection, a driver's licence was found in the man's wallet. The document, suspected to be counterfeit, was allegedly issued by Armenian authorities in another person's name. Border police officers confiscated the licence after a closer examination with special equipment revealed signs of forgery.
The confiscated document will now undergo forensic examination, the Border Police confirmed.
In the past 24 hours, Border Police officers have denied entry to 20 foreign nationals attempting to enter Moldova.
