LIVE// The Cabinet of Ministers, in session: 36 topics - on the agenda
The members of the Cabinet of Ministers meet today, May 29, starting at 10:00 a.m., in the meeting chaired by Prime Minister Dorin Recean. There are 36 topics on the agenda. Thus, the ministers are to approve the National Development Plan for 2025-2027. Also at today's meeting, the Decision regarding the approval of the natural gas storage obligation will be examined.
According to the authorities, the reforms set in the National Development Plan for 2025-2027 will ensure the achievement of the Government's objectives, producing an impact on all areas and sectors, thus contributing to the implementation by the Republic of Moldova of the criteria for accession to the European Union and to the achievement of the four priorities established in the National Plan "Building European Moldova", namely: ensuring peace and security; economic development and job creation; modernizing the infrastructure and improving living conditions in localities; justice reform. In the medium term, the Government's mission will consist in modernizing the localities of the Republic of Moldova, guaranteeing the security of every citizen, contributing to the increase of incomes and creating well-paid jobs, and in the long term the main objective is the country's accession to the European Union by 2030.
Also today, the Executive will vote on the Decision regarding the approval of the natural gas storage obligation. The document was developed by the Ministry of Energy in order to ensure the continuity and security of the natural gas supply of the Republic of Moldova, as well as in order to implement the provisions of the European Union Regulation regarding natural gas storage.
The informative note also mentions that the Republic of Moldova does not have underground storage facilities, but it is surrounded by states that can do this for our country, in order to avoid possible shortages of natural gas, as well as to manage the problem of abnormal increases of their prices. Thus, through the decision to be approved today by the executive, the Joint Stock Company "Energocom" will have the obligation to store, until October 1st, a quantity of natural gas of 102.4 million cubic meters in the storage facilities in the countries parts of the Energy Community or of the member states of the European Union.
The Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is also included on the agenda of the Executive. According to the informative note, the document serves as the basis for the development of the Moldovan-Saudi partnership, representing the first treaty between the Parties aimed at supporting mutual cooperation in the fields of: economy, trade, investments, cooperation for development, education, science, culture, mass media, tourism , youth and sport. Thus, the Agreement aims to deepen and diversify bilateral cooperation with countries in the Middle East region. The document will be concluded for a period of five years, with the possibility of being automatically extended for consecutive periods of one year.
