Nicu Popescu: The EC report aimed at the level of transposition of the EU acquis into the legislation of our country is for now an internal document

The European Commission (EC) report, which aims at the level of transposition of the EU acquis in our country's legislation, is for now an internal document and will be officially published later in January, announced the Minister of Foreign Affairs Nicu Popescu on his Facebook page.

The official stated that the new report to be published will assess the existing situation in the 33 chapters of EU legislation and will not include the substantial progress already made after June. The clarifications were made in the context in which the media publicized the information of a draft of the European Commission report which indicates that the Republic of Moldova records worse results than Ukraine and Georgia in the application of European legislation. According to the document, the Chisinau authorities are at the initial stage or have a certain level of preparation in implementing the community acquis or European legislation in almost all chapters of cooperation with the EU. Thus, Nicu Popescu said that the authorities have already started identifying the arrears on all accession chapters so that we can move forward quickly, and at the same time the nine recommendations of the European Commission are being implemented. In the fall of 2023, the European Commission will also publish the "enlargement package", which will also contain the progress report on the Republic of Moldova, the minister concluded. We remind you that two days ago the President Maia Sandu summoned the members of the National Commission for European Integration in which she emphasized that it is necessary for all the responsible institutions to boost the efforts to implement the Action Plan, noting that this is a country project to which we must contribute all of us. The Republic of Moldova obtained the status of a candidate country for the EU in June 2022.
