Sweden Grants Ukraine €6.5B Military Aid in Security Agreement
Sweden will grant Ukraine military aid worth approximately 6.5 billion euros - about 2.2 billion euros per year, following the signing of a bilateral security agreement today by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, according to Rador.
The military support includes aircraft and air defence systems, armoured vehicles, artillery, enhanced maritime security, demining assistance, and unmanned aerial vehicles.
Separate parts of the agreement target support for the Peace Formula, sanctions, compensation for damages caused by the Russian army, and bringing Russian aggressors to justice, as well as assistance to Kyiv for economic recovery, reconstruction, and protection of critical infrastructure.
Additionally, Sweden will support Ukraine in its efforts to join the EU and NATO.
Ukraine and Belgium concluded a bilateral security agreement on Tuesday, which includes the delivery of 30 F-16 fighter jets, signed during a meeting in Brussels between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo.
On Monday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, along with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, signed a bilateral security cooperation agreement in Madrid. This year, Spain will provide Ukraine with military aid amounting to 1 billion euros.
