The newly appointed Attorney General of the Republic of Moldova, Ion Munteanu, is receiving a monthly salary of approximately 47 thousand lei (€2,400).
The head of the General Prosecutor's Office (PG) has informed journalists that his salary increased following his promotion for successfully completing the financial and ethical integrity assessment.
Ion Munteanu confirmed, "Yes, my salary has been raised in connection with my advancement in the Vetting process, as I am a candidate for the Supreme Court of Justice. It amounts to around 47 thousand lei, which is the actual sum deposited into my account. Furthermore, this is stipulated by law, which is publicly available for consultation."
Ion Munteanu successfully passed the evaluation conducted by the Vetting Commission, and the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) subsequently endorsed his report. According to his wealth and interests statement, Ion Munteanu received a salary of approximately 485 thousand lei from the PG in 2023, resulting in an average monthly income of just over 40 thousand lei.
