Over 280 farmers applied for emergency farm loans. Most of them – from Cantemir and Edineț
More than 280 farmers from the Republic of Moldova, who have suffered losses due to the crises of recent years, have applied for emergency farm loans, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA) announces. Farmers from Cantemir and Edineț submitted the most applications. According to MAIA, the total amount of approved credits reaches over 96 million lei.
According to the cited source, the most agricultural loans were requested by farmers from Cantemir (22 requests), Edineț (21 requests) and Râșcani and UTAG Găgăuzia (18 requests each). In Cahul, 16 farmers applied for an emergency loan, and in Soroca – 13.
The fewest applications were submitted by farmers from Ialoveni (1 application) and from Balti, Taraclia and Dondușeni – 2 applications each.
The Emergency Agricultural Credit was designed by MAIA and the Organization for the Development of Entrepreneurship (ODA), with the support of the Government, for micro and small farmers who grow grains. Affected farmers had the opportunity to submit applications between March 1 and May 31.
Farmers were able to access loans with a maximum value of 500,000 lei, guaranteed by the state in proportion to 90%.
