PLDM nominated Vlad Filat to the position of president of the Republic of Moldova
Former Prime Minister Vlad Filat was nominated by the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) to the position of President of the Republic of Moldova. The decision was taken by the formation's permanent office on May 31.
"The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova will register and participate as an electoral competitor in the constitutional republican referendum on October 20, 2024," reads the PLDM press release.
We mention that so far, the current president of the country Maia Sandu, Tudor Ulianovschi (ex-minister of foreign affairs in the Filip government) and Andrei Năstase (founder of the DA Platform, ex-minister of the interior) have announced their candidacies for the presidential elections.
Also, the former prime minister, the current president of the PDCM Ion Chicu and the ex-mayor of Bălți, the leader of the "Partidul Nostru" formation, Renato Usatîi, declared that they intend to run for the position of head of state, but they have not made a final decision.
We remind you that on October 20, presidential elections will be held in the Republic of Moldova. On the same day, the referendum initiated by President Maia Sandu regarding our country's accession to the EU will be organized.
