Enhancing Defence Cooperation: Moldova-France Bilateral Consultations
The reform of the defence sector, the transformation and modernization of the National Army, as well as the current security situation in the region, were addressed during the first strategic dialogue on defence and the bilateral Moldovan-French military consultations.
In this context, the Minister of Defense, Anatolie Nosatîi, and the Secretary of State for Defense Policy, Valeriu Mija, met on Tuesday with a delegation from the French Ministry of Armed Forces at the institution's headquarters.
Simultaneously, the head of the General Staff of the National Army, Brigadier General Eduard Ohladciuc, discussed with the Director of the General Staff for Euro-Atlantic International Relations, Rear Admiral Luc Raynal, from the French Ministry of Armed Forces, the prospects of intensifying defence cooperation, including the assistance offered by France for developing and strengthening national defence capabilities.
The Ministry of Defense stated in a release that the first Strategic Dialogue on Defense and the Bilateral Moldovan-French Military Consultations are taking place within the framework of the intergovernmental Cooperation Agreement between the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Moldova and the Ministry of the Armed Forces of France, signed in Paris on March 7 of this year.
