Accident in Russia: One person died, over 100 people were injured
One person died and more than a hundred others suffered, following the collision on a bridge between two trams. The accident happened this morning in Kemerovo (Russia). The announcement was made by the mayor of the city Dmitrii Anisimov, on Telegram, quoted by Ria Novosti.
"Unfortunately, despite all the efforts of the doctors, one of those involved in the accident on Logovo road died. We will meet with the relatives of the deceased. We will give the families all the support they need," he wrote.
The mayor noted that the condition of the other inmates does not cause concern for doctors. Blood donation is not required.
According to him, 11 people were given outpatient treatment. He added that several patients are already undergoing surgery. The accident happened on Thursday morning, early, on the Logovo road.
According to the latest data announced by meduza.io, 102 people were injured. Kuzbass acting governor Ilia Serediuk said 57 passengers were hospitalized, three in serious condition, as of 06:40 Moscow time.
The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal investigation for the provision of services that do not comply with the requirements of consumer life or health safety. The investigation is conducted under the supervision of the prosecutor.
Because of the accident, an operative command was created led by the mayor of the city.
A Russian official told TASS that the reasons for the collision could have been a brake failure or human error.
