Four doctors accused of malpractice at the "Gheorghe Paladi" Hospital in Chisinau
Four obstetricians from the "Gheorghe Paladi" Municipal Clinical Hospital will stand trial, announced the General Prosecutor's Office (PG). They are accused of negligently violating the rules or methods of providing medical assistance that caused the death of the patient.
According to the prosecutors, as a result of the epidural analgesia, the doctors did not properly monitor the patient and decided to apply the obstetric suction cup, even though a cesarean section was necessary.
Following the doctors' decision, the newborn suffered trauma, which caused his death the following day.
The accused do not plead guilty.
Doctors risk imprisonment of up to 3 years with the deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or to exercise a certain activity for a period of 2 to 5 years.
