Flu vaccine stocks in the municipality of Chisinau were exhausted
In the municipality of Chisinau, stocks of anti-flu vaccine have been exhausted, the head of the Health Directorate, Boris Gîlca, told Radio Moldova. At the same time, according to the National Public Health Agency (ANSP), 17,600 vaccine doses are still available in the country's districts.
According to him, the number of vaccine doses will not be replenished. "From the number of doses of about 48 thousand received for the municipality of Chisinau, of flu vaccine, we used practically the whole lot, 99.9%, it is a lesson learned for the fall of 2023", said Boris Gîlca. In the districts of the Republic of Moldova, 17,600 doses of the flu vaccine are still available, stated the head of the Section for epidemiological surveillance of vaccine-preventable diseases within the ANSP, Veaceslav Guțu. "I spoke with the managers of the primary healthcare institutions in Chisinau and they mostly finished the stock, so doses were redistributed internally only to people who are in the risk groups and did not manage to get vaccinated. In the Republic of Moldova, around 200 thousand 400 people have been vaccinated against the flu, around 17 thousand 600 doses are still in stock. For the most part, around 60% of the received stock was used in UTA Găgauzia, 70% in Bălți", stated Veaceslav Guțu. We remind that the Republic of Moldova received for the 2022/2023 cold season, 218 thousand flu vaccine doses, compared to one hundred thousand received in 2021. In this cold flu season, 932 people fell ill, of which 65% are children. Moreover, two deaths caused by the flu were reported.
