Moldova Overhauls Road Authority: Boosts Efficiency, Funding

The Moldovan government has announced plans to restructure the State Road Administration (ASD), currently a state-owned enterprise.

The ASD will be transformed into a joint-stock company, with its capital entirely held by the state.

This decision, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday, aims to optimise the utilisation of road fund resources and enhance the agency's ability to secure funding from external sources. The restructuring is also expected to lead to improvements in the system for building, upgrading, repairing, and maintaining national public roads.

The Public Property Agency will be responsible for overseeing the ASD's conversion into a joint-stock company. This process must be completed within three months of the decision coming into effect.
