President Maia Sandu Appoints Judges to Moldova's CSJ
The decrees appointing lawyer Vladislav Gribincea and magistrate Stella Bleșceaga as judges of the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ) were signed by President Maia Sandu.
The documents were signed on June 10 and published in the Official Monitor on Thursday, June 13. They assume their positions on the day the decrees are published.
On June 6, the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) proposed to the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, the appointment of two additional candidates as judges at the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ): lawyer Vladislav Gribincea and magistrate Stella Bleșceaga.
It should be noted that Parliament approved the reform of the CSJ in the spring of 2023. Following the reform, the Court will consist of 20 magistrates. Candidates for positions in the CSJ can include representatives from other legal professions, such as lawyers, prosecutors, or university law professors. To become a judge at the CSJ, candidates must first pass the Vetting process—an external evaluation of financial and ethical integrity. Subsequently, the Commission's conclusions are sent to the Superior Council of Magistracy for examination.
