Ukraine War: EU Backs Moldova's Air Defense Upgrade

The European Peace Facility (EPF) is providing financial aid to Moldova to strengthen its air defence capabilities.

This new €9 million aid package builds on Moldova's border defence cooperation with the EU. It comes in response to Moldova's request, prompted by a risk assessment of threats stemming from the war in Ukraine and its impact on national security.

The funding will be used to procure air defence systems. These systems will be contracted, purchased, and delivered according to a schedule established with the EU. The delivery of equipment to Moldova's National Army will hinge on an agreement between the EU and the Moldovan government. This agreement will ensure compliance with the European Peace Facility's requirements and conditions.
