Igor Grosu on the leave of anti-corruption prosecutors: "Everyone decides for oneself"
There is life after vetting, and if he is a good lawyer, he will find himself somewhere. This is how the Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu commented on the leave of the nine anti-corruption prosecutors. Igor Grosu said on Jurnal TV that everyone decides what is best for oneself.
"It's their decision, everyone decides. If he does it consciously and wants to change his profession, that's what he's talking about - there's life after vetting and after a career in the Prosecutor's Office. If he is a good lawyer, he will find a job somewhere. The others, please go, prove, pass this exercise. There are prosecutors who have passed", declared Igor Grosu.
We remind you that the General Prosecutor's Office announced that nine prosecutors from the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office submitted their resignation requests after being notified of the initiation of the external evaluation process.
The head of the Anti-corruption Prosecutor's Office, Veronica Dragalin, admitted, during a program on the N4 TV channel, that the management of the case will be "problematic" and said that one of the nine anti-corruption prosecutors who decided to leave the system in the midst of the vetting process was responsible for the "Bank Fraud" file.
On Thursday, the 20 days after the notification expired, in which the prosecutors were to decide whether to accept the assessment or resign.
The vetting involves evaluating the ethical and financial integrity of over 200 prosecutors in key positions, as well as those aspiring to these positions. Those who do not pass the assessment will be released and will not be able to exercise the position of prosecutor or other positions for 5-7 years.
The extraordinary evaluation of prosecutors and judges is the most complex part of the justice reform launched by the current government in Chisinau and one of the conditions for the official start of the accession negotiations to the European Union.
