Ukrainian Jobs in Moldova: Seeking Refuge, Finding Work

Since the war in Ukraine began in 2022, over 1,400 Ukrainian citizens have found employment in the Republic of Moldova, according to data from the National Employment Agency (ANOFM).

This figure includes nearly 980 women and 450 men.

The Moldovan capital, Chisinau, has attracted the majority of these Ukrainian workers, with approximately 1,100 employed there. These individuals represent a diverse range of professions, most commonly including programmers, engineers, seamstresses, salespeople, cooks, waiters, doctors, educators, and managers across various fields.

So far this year, around 180 Ukrainians with temporary protection status have registered with local ANOFM offices to receive employment assistance. Employers who hire such individuals are obligated to notify ANOFM within five days of signing the employment contract.
