Alarming statistic: One in four young people in the Republic of Moldova does not work or study
Every fourth young person in the Republic of Moldova, aged between 15 and 36, is neither employed nor studying, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics. According to the "Labor Force Survey" for the first quarter of the current year, the figure is slightly down, compared to the same period last year, and represents almost 25 percent of the young population.
According to the source, 30% of young people do not work, but follow a level of education or professional training courses. More than 35 percent are not studying, but are already employed.
Almost four percent of young people manage to pursue a level of education, having at the same time a job, and 6 percent are part of the category of those who have gone abroad or are looking for a job.
Statistical data also show that among young people who do not work and do not study, regardless of age group or gender, people with secondary education prevail. And the highest rate was recorded among women aged 30-34, which exceeds 45%.
