Igor Grosu, at the meeting with Sergio Mattarella: "Parliament, fully engaged in executing the reform agenda"
The European integration of the Republic of Moldova, the opportunities for boosting bilateral relations, as well as the situation of Moldovans living in Italy was discussed today by the Parliament Speaker, Igor Grosu, and the President of Italy, Sergio Mattarella. During the meeting, the Speaker gave assurances that the Chisinau Parliament is fully engaged in executing the agenda of necessary reforms, including in the course of European integration.
According to a press release issued by the Parliament, in the discussions with the leader from Rome, the Speaker Igor Grosu emphasized the fact that the European path of the Republic of Moldova is an "irreversible" one.
"Parliament is fully engaged in executing the necessary reforms agenda, and justice and the fight against corruption, energy and renewable efficiency, security and public order remain priorities," said the Parliament Speaker, according to the quoted statement. The officials discussed the situation of Moldovan citizens living in Italy. In this context, President Sergio Mattarella mentioned that, in Italy, there is a valued and active community of Moldovans both socially and economically.
President Sergio Mattarella is currently in Chisinau. This is the first official visit of a president of the Italian Republic to the Republic of Moldova. The Italian official had a meeting with the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu. Also, during the visit, the Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Cristina Gherasimov, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy, Edmondo Cirielli, signed a Statement by which Italy supports the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union.
