Don't Swim! Nistru River Pollution Warning Issued

The Nistru River is reportedly polluted following a malfunction in the sewage system of the city of Tighina. The malfunction caused waste to spill into the river.

The Ministry of Environment has urgently requested water samples to be taken from several locations along the river for testing. The Ministry is urging residents in the area to avoid swimming or watering animals in the river.

According to initial data, the sewage system failure in Bender has been repaired by city officials. However, the Nistru River is still considered polluted near the city.

The Ministry will provide further updates as soon as they become available, a spokesperson said.

To prevent health risks, the Ministry of Environment advises residents in nearby areas to avoid swimming in the Nistru and not to allow animals to drink from the river downstream of Bender.
