Germany Reaffirms Support for Moldova's EU Integration Path

On the eve of the first intergovernmental conference marking the official launch of accession negotiations, Germany reiterated its support for the Republic of Moldova's European integration path.

The progress already made and the next steps in the European integration process were discussed by the Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Cristina Gherasimov, with the delegation from the German Bundestag's Committee for EU Affairs, led by Anton Hofreiter.

Cristina Gherasimov appreciated the support of the Berlin authorities in promoting our country's aspiration to become a member of the European Union and for the close bilateral cooperation.

Also today, the Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration met with representatives of the extra parliamentary political groups from the Republic of Moldova to consult on our country's general negotiating position for the first Intergovernmental Conference.

Cristina Gherasimov urged the parties supporting the European agenda to contribute to the pre-accession process and actively engage in promoting European values.

The first intergovernmental conference will take place on June 25 in Luxembourg.
