The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, congratulated Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, after he was officially nominated to the position of Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance. The head of state appreciated, in a post on social networks, the partnership of the Republic of Moldova with NATO.

"Warm congratulations to Prime Minister Mark Rutte on being chosen as the next Secretary General of NATO. We value our long-standing partnership with NATO, which helps us build our resilience as we work for a stable, secure and more prosperous Moldova. Best wishes in this new role," Maia Sandu wrote on the X platform.

We remind that the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, was officially nominated for the position of Secretary General of NATO, instead of Jens Stoltenberg. He will assume the position of Secretary General from October 1, 2024, when Stoltenberg's mandate expires after ten years at the helm of the North Atlantic Alliance.
