The Chisinau Electric Transport Authority has doubled its revenues, as the travel price increased
The incomes of the Chisinau Electric Transport Authority have doubled in the second half of 2022, in contrast to the same period a year before. As officials from the Municipal Enterprise say, the number of passengers in the second half of last year increased by 20 percent.
Between July and December 2022, approximately 260,000 bus passes were sold, and revenues doubled, the spokeswoman for the Chisinau Electric Transport Authority, Felicia Rusu, told Radio Moldova. According to her, the institution's income had increased significantly after the fee for a trip by trolleybus and bus went up from 2 lei to 6 lei on July 1.
If before the tariff adjustment there were seven types of bus passes, now there are exactly 27. 110 thousand out of 260 thousand are the monthly bus passes for general travellers, followed by students and the general bus pass for three months. The number of passengers increased by about 20%. Students of grades I-IV, pensioners and people with disabilities travel free," said Felicia Rusu.
The official added that 3 percent of people who travel by trolleybus prefer to pay for the trip with a bank card. According to the RTEC representative, the pilot project on electronic tolling is being carried out on trolleybus routes number 22, 23, 24, 30 as well as the route number 36.
