The famous Georgian and Soviet actor Vakhtang Kikabidze died
Kikabidze's best-known role is the pilot Valiko Mizandari in the film "Mimino" directed by Georgy Danelia.
Kikabidze is also known as a singer. Among his famous songs - "My years - my wealth".
Since 2020, he has been a member of the Georgian parliament from former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili's "United National Movement" party.
Kikabidze stopped performing in Russia in 2008 after the Russian Federation invaded Georgia. In 2014, speaking about the situation in Ukraine, the actor called Putin a "black power politician" and an "invader", adding that if he were young, he would go "to defend the honour of his country".
Vakhtang Kikabidze died at the age of 84.
