Ukrainian Energy Minister: Difficult days ahead after Russian missile attacks

According to the Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko, the coming days will be difficult on the energy front after a massive Russian missile attack on Saturday hit critical infrastructure in several regions, reports Reuters.

German Galushchenko said that energy infrastructure in six Ukrainian regions was damaged by the attacks. DTEK, Ukraine's largest private energy company, said two of its thermal plants were hit by Saturday's attacks.

As stated previously in the Government’s reports, about 40 percent of Ukraine's energy system has been damaged by missile and drone attacks over the past three months on the country's energy infrastructure.

Kirill Tymoshenko, deputy head of the President's Office, stated that Ukraine received more than 300,000 generators in December as the country struggles to survive the cold winter months despite deteriorating electricity infrastructure.
