The European Union disburses 100 million euros for the Republic of Moldova

The European Union offers another 100 million euros to the Republic of Moldova. The amount will be allocated next week, 35 million euros representing financial support, and macro-financial assistance is worth 72.5 million euros. This was announced by the European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi, during a joint briefing with Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

The European official emphasized, in the context of the launch of the first screening session in the negotiation process with the European Union, that the authorities in Chisinau, the political actors must support the reforms and assume the necessary commitments in the European integration process of our country.

"We have started the disbursement of 100 million euros, money that will arrive in Chisinau next week. It is about 35 million euros in the form of budget support and another 65 million as macro-budgetary assistance. Be sure that the EU remains with you. Recently, the EU budget was ammended to address the financing of countries during the pre-accession period. We also have additional funds for the Republic of Moldova and now we are working to see how we can use these funds*", said the European Commissioner.

For his part, the prime minister emphasized that the pre-accession funds of the European Union will help our country to develop its economy, to make investments in the field of health and infrastructure of our state.

"We discussed what we need to do together and implement so that the Republic of Moldova can really enjoy a prosperous future like the other EU countries. The Commissioner is visiting Chisinau and wants to state his support for the economic and social development plan that will lead to our ultimate goal of being a full member of the EU. The commissioner also brought good news regarding the continuation of the EU funding program for the economic and social development of the Republic of Moldova. It is part of the EU assistance package announced in autumn 2022. These funds will be allocated to various sectors: economy, education, health and infrastructure. Thank you for being with us and the continuous support of the EU, which helps us develop the Republic of Moldova", said Dorin Recean.

We remind that today in Chisinau, the first bilateral screening session is taking place within the negotiations for the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union. The meeting is being held for the first time in the candidate country, and not in Brussels.
