20 Moldovan soldiers will participate in the EU operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina

20 Moldovan soldiers will participate in the EU operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. A draft decision stipulating this was adopted by Parliament with the vote of 61 deputies. The mission will start from October 1, 2024 and will last for 12 months.

"The Moldovan contingent will participate in the "EUFOR ALTHEA" mission as part of the Romanian contingent, which in turn is part of the multinational battalion, starting in October 2024, and will perform the tasks specific to peacekeeping missions. Thus, through the participation of the National Army Contingent in the "EUFOR ALTHEA" operation, the Republic of Moldova will contribute to regional and international security, actively integrating itself into the common security and defense policy of the European Union", said the Minister of Defense, Anatolie Nosatîi.

Logistical insurance will be provided by the Romanian contingent, since, recently, the Parliament adopted the amendment of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and that of Bucharest regarding cooperation in the military field.

Respectively, part of the expenses will be covered by Romania.
