Maia Sandu handed the flag of the Republic of Moldova to the Olympic team that will go to Paris: "A great pride for the whole country"
The flag of the Republic of Moldova for the Olympic Games in Paris was handed to the athletes by the head of state, Maia Sandu. The President wished success to the athletes and is confident that the Moldovan athletes will return with medals from the Paris Olympics.
"It is extraordinary that a small country like the Republic of Moldova has champions in 10 sports events included in the program of the Olympic Games. Only the best of the best get to participate in the Olympic Games, and for you, for each of you, this means an extraordinary achievement, and for us it means a great pride for our entire country", said President Maia Sandu.
"We are honored to represent and to carry the flag at the Olympic Games in Paris. We will carry our flag with pride and determination, we will do everything in our power to show the whole world that Moldova is a country of talented and passionate people", said Dan Olaru, athlete.
In all, this year, the Olympic team of the Republic of Moldova will be composed of 26 athletes, that will compete in 10 sports events.
The 33rd edition of the Summer Olympic Games will take place in Paris, between July 26 and August 11 this year.
