Maia Sandu Discusses Security at European Political Community Summit
Moldovan President Maia Sandu arrived in Great Britain, where she will participate in the Summit of the European Political Community, which is taking place in London.
The head of state was greeted by the British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, who is hosting this event.
“I am honoured to join leaders at today’s Summit of the European Political Community, where we will discuss the security of our continent and the resilience of Moldova. I am grateful to Mr. Keir Starmer for hosting us at the historic Blenheim Palace,” wrote Maia Sandu on the social network X.
Sandu is undertaking a working visit to Great Britain from 17-18 July, and on 19 July, she will travel to Ireland. According to the agenda, the Moldovan President will participate in the Summit of the European Political Community.
During the event, the head of state will have meetings with several European presidents and prime ministers, with whom she will discuss peace and security in our country, economic development, and European integration.
The Summit’s sessions include working groups on topics such as the defence of democracy, migration, energy, and connectivity.
The head of state, alongside the president of France, Emmanuel Macron, will preside over a working group, with leaders from several countries and international organisations participating, where the topic of defending democracy will be discussed.
Besides the meetings in Great Britain, the head of state will travel to Dublin, where she will meet with the president of Ireland, Michael Daniel Higgins, and the prime minister of Ireland, Simon Harris.
Both in London and Dublin, the president will meet with the Moldovan communities settled in Great Britain and Ireland.
