Man Arrested Near Republican National Convention with Concealed AK-47
An armed man was arrested on Monday near the location of the Republican National Convention, where candidates for president and vice president are nominated by the party, as reported by The Guardian.
According to an official document, the man was found in possession of a concealed AK-47 pistol, a fully loaded cartridge, a flashlight, black gloves, and a mask, all concealed within a backpack.
Donnell Tinsley, 21 years old, was observed by an agent two streets away from the secured perimeter of the convention venue on Monday.
Tinsley, who was wearing a mask and black gloves, was carrying a large and notably heavy backpack. When questioned by police, he denied possessing any firearms. However, upon searching his backpack, police discovered the concealed weapon.
It was confirmed that Tinsley did not hold a concealed carry permit. The firearm found in his backpack is identified as a Draco AK-47 pistol, modeled after the Russian assault rifle Kalashnikov (AK-47), originally manufactured in Romania.
