Ukraine will receive the first installment of assistance from the EU in the amount of 3 billion euros

This week, Ukraine will receive 3 of the 18 billion euros promised to Kiev by the European Union, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmihal announced on Monday, the BBC reports.

The official from Kyiv noted that these funds are necessary for Ukraine to maintain macro-financial stability. The memorandum regarding the EU's provision of a package worth a total of 18 billion euros was signed by the vice-president of the European Commission, Valdis Dombrovskis. "This will allow Ukraine to cover its most urgent needs with a stable flow of funds throughout the year," said Valdis Dombrovskis. Dates for which other installments are planned have not been announced. The BBC notes that it was not easy for EU countries to agree on this package. Hungary in particular was against for a long time.
