Biden’s Exit: US-Moldova Relations Remain Strong
The withdrawal of the leader from the White House, Joe Biden, from the presidential race in the USA would not affect bilateral relations between our country and Washington.
This opinion belongs to the former ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the USA, Nicolae Țîu. According to the diplomat, over the years, the USA has supported our country in various sectors, developing strong political and economic relations.
"The United States has consistently supported the Republic of Moldova over these years, starting from '92. We have received help in the fields of energy and agriculture. Currently, they help us in the field of promoting reforms. One main project that the USA promotes in the Republic of Moldova is joining the European Union. We have significant support from the USA in the field of fighting corruption. We have strong and effective support from the USA, and we will certainly continue to have it," said Nicolae Țîu, on the show “Day by Day” from Radio Moldova.
Meanwhile, the diplomat said that the USA has experienced significant economic growth during Joe Biden's mandate.
“The USA has developed much better in these four years than during President Trump's time. Inflation has decreased, and the number of unemployed has been reduced. There have been some very significant achievements in this mandate,” he claims.
Remember: Joe Biden announced, on the evening of July 21, that he is exiting the presidential race for the White House, saying that “it is in the interest of my party and the country.” This withdrawal generated a chain of international reactions. At the same time, the announcement that the American president made that evening on social networks was a headline in all news bulletins around the world.
Allies of the United States appreciate Joe Biden's contribution to common security, both in Europe and the Middle East.
The leader from Kiev, Zelensky, stated that Ukraine will always be grateful to Joe Biden for the support given and the bold steps taken to prevent the Russian occupation of Ukraine.
On the other hand, the Kremlin reacted through the voice of Peskov, who declared that Biden's withdrawal was not surprising.
Remember: In the spring, Joe Biden and Donald Trump won the primary elections. Biden was criticised for his poor performance in the televised debate against Trump last month. Joe Biden was also a senator and vice-president during Barack Obama's mandate. In 2011, he visited the Republic of Moldova.
