Moldova Launches Fertilizer Initiative with Japanese Support

Agricultural producers operating within the Republic of Moldova will be able to purchase solid fertilisers in instalments through a grant agreement funded by the Government of Japan.

The project, titled "Providing Farmers with Fertilisers," which includes the distribution of approximately 2,000 tons of fertilisers at preferential prices and VAT-free, was officially launched on Thursday, July 26, in Chișinău.

With support from Japan, a new agricultural program has been introduced in the Republic of Moldova. This initiative involves supplying 2000 tons of fertilisers to Moldovan farmers through the ADMA Agency, as stated by Vladimir Bolea, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, during a live broadcast on social media.

Farmers must apply to the Agency for the Development and Modernization of Agriculture (ADMA) to benefit from this support. Those cultivating up to 500 hectares will receive up to 100 kg per hectare. Farmers cultivating between 501 and 1500 hectares will receive 70 kg per hectare, while those managing between 1501 and 3000 hectares will receive 50 kg per hectare.

Beneficiaries will pay 50% of the cost initially, with the remaining amount due over 12 months from the date of fertiliser acquisition. Deliveries will be VAT-exempt.

"The service principal at ADMA is the same as at AIPA and in European countries: first come, first served," the minister noted.

On Thursday, the Republic of Moldova also received the final batch of tractors purchased through the "Modernization of Agricultural Machinery and Equipment" project. Japanese agricultural machinery will be delivered to beneficiaries at competitive prices through instalment sale contracts.
